Two Sessions | Empowering Women Farmers with Science, TechnologyByWang Shasha March 11, 2024
Wei Qiao is a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), and president of Jiangsu Runguo Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. In 2017, Wei resigned from her job with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and she resettled in the fields of her hometown. Wei prefers to call herself a "new farmer." Wei believes "new farmers" have the responsibility of leading small-household farmers in participating in the construction of a modern agricultural system, and in achieving common prosperity. From a researcher to an entrepreneur, Wei has always been committed to increasing agricultural-based incomes through science and technology, which will attract young people to participate in rural revitalization, and in turn will lead villagers in achieving common prosperity.
During this year's NPC session, as an outstanding representative of women "new farmers," Wei stressed the importance of promoting implementation of the rural women dream chasers plan, and cultivating women "new farmers," who will master agricultural science and technology.
